After the success of their first single "Scumbag Philosopher," London based PR company The Playground and the formerly known as F*ck Dress, post-punk-avant-rockers Scumbag Philosopher are set to release their next single "God Is Dead So I Listen To Radiohead" on the 23rd May 2011 plus announce exclusive live dates with Mark E. Smith’s The Fall, a slot at Glade Festival 2011 and their "It Means Nothing So It Means Nothing UK Tour."
Re-produced and re-mixed by Phil Vinall (Placebo, Pulp, Elastica, Victorian English Gentlemen’s Club), "God Is Dead Is Dead So I Listen To Radiohead" is the second single taken from their forthcoming album "It Means Nothing So It Means Nothing." The track is about the kind of neurotic boy outsider (aka suburban Nietzsche freak) who is looking for something a bit deeper in life. Without actually knowing anything about them (apart from their most famous quotes) he ends up attaching himself to the groovier (and gloomier) sounding philosophers (Nietzsche or Sartre for example) and to the bands and musicians that reference them.
The original version of their first single "Suburban Nietzsche Freak" was released on 7" vinyl on NR One Records in mid-2008 and was championed by the likes of Rob Da Bank, Tom Robinson, John Kennedy and Queens of Noize (6Music) with a significant amount of bloggers buzzing about them. The single charted on Spanish and Italian TV and national radio charts plus received worldwide airplay including Sweden, Germany, New Zealand and France with it selling out within weeks of release. Scumbag Philosopher’s recently released eponymous first single off the album received support from John Kennedy and Stuart Maconie with Artrocker Radio playing nearly all of the upcoming album tracks on Resonance FM.
New live dates have been announced including 2 exclusive shows with iconic British post-punkers The Fall to take place at London’s Koko on the 1st June and Manchester’s Moho-Live on the 3rd June. Scumbag Philosopher have also been added to this year’s Glade Festival and dates for their "It Means Nothing So It Means Nothing" UK tour, which is endorsed by the Arts Council, are currently being booked.
