Fuentek Consultants Participate In Three Sessions at AUTM Eastern Region Meeting
University Technology Transfer Professionals Discuss Economic Development, Symbiotic Innovation, and Social Media Tools

Fuentek President Laura A. Schoppe will lead a session titled “Play Well with Others: How to Collaborate with Economic Development Organizations,” along with Andrea Adkins of the University of Central Florida, Stephen Auvil of the Maryland Technology Development Corporation (TEDCO), and Paul Ulanch, Ph.D., of the Research Triangle Park Small Business & Technology Development Center. This session will focus on how university technology transfer offices and regional economic development agencies should work together as partners, leveraging each other’s strengths to achieve their complementary objectives more quickly.
Schoppe also is participating in a panel with Fuentek Senior Consultant Nannette Stangle-Castor, Ph.D., and Kevin Wozniak of the Georgia Tech Applied Research Corp. Titled “An Alternative to Start-Ups: Collaboration through Symbiotic Innovation,” this session will explore the advantages of collaborative R&D partnerships and will provide practical advice for forming such partnerships.
Finally, Fuentek Senior Consultant Karen Hiser will discuss her experiences managing technology transfer activities on various social media platforms as part of the session, “The Secret Life of a Social Media Administrator: What Works, What Doesn’t and Why You Might Have the Wrong Approach.” Moderated by Morgan E. Estabrook of the University of Virginia Patent Foundation, the panel also includes Montserrat Capdevila and Laura Mitchell of Johns Hopkins University and Stephen Kinsey of the University of Maryland–Baltimore.
