GCN Canada Inc. Begins Preparations for Start Up of the Emerald Coast Project in Cameroon
GCN Canada, Inc. announces it has begun making preparations to send an advance team to Limbe, Cameroon to initiate the development of the Emerald Coast Free Zone Development Project
Ottawa, Canada, May 05, 2011 --(PR.com)-- GCN Canada, Inc., the Ottawa-based company behind the Emerald Coast Free Zone Development Project, announced today that it has begun making preparations to send its advance team to Cameroon in the latter part of May. The team will comprise of the company’s Managing Director Mr. John Lindsay, its Executive Vice President Kenneth Clayton, its Project Coordinator Vincent Kassi Duckett, Project Manager Geoffrey McRae, and Africa Operations Director Prince Jerome Tchotanin.
While in Cameroon they will formally incorporate Emerald Coast Developments Ltd. (ECD), which has already been structured in draft form. ECD will be the Cameroon-based JV company jointly owned by project partners GCN Canada Inc. and Bonanza Estates SA, that will be the development company for the project. GCN Canada, Inc. remains the lead partner in the project, and will be in charge of both funding and all international components related to the Emerald Coast Free Zone Development Project. While in Cameroon the technical members of the team will do a physical assessment of the Batoke site to map out the most accessible sections for constructing the primary staging area. They will also meet with local contracting companies to assess their services and capabilities; and with the National Office for Industrial Free Zones (NOIFZ).
In announcing the preparations President of GCN Canada Inc., His Excellency Robert Sabga, also launched the project’s newly re-vamped GCN Canada website, which has been greatly enhanced and expanded, and is far more user friendly than its previous version. In addition to being visually stunning, the new website is also interactive and allows visitors to leave comments in its blog and cross link to social networks like Facebook and Twitter. It also now features contact portals for investors, vendors, and job seekers.
The Emerald Coast Free Zone Project is being constructed near the coastal city of Limbe in Cameroon’s Strategic Economic Zone. Estimated to cost US$3.5 Billion by completion, it will be Africa’s first financial and tourism free zone, a tax haven and offshore banking center, and the only such multi-faceted facility on the planet. It will feature 5-star hotels, a deep water marina, a self-contained financial district specializing in offshore banking services and hard asset management, and have a host of entertainment facilities including a world-class golf course, cinema and live theatre performances, a casino, and a water park to name a few. It will create thousands of jobs, and radically change the way that the world has traditionally viewed Africa in general, and Cameroon in particular.
