Utahan’s Select the 2011 Sub Zero Ice Cream Flavors of the Year
Provo, UT, May 06, 2011 --(PR.com)-- The top ten finalists from the Taste Testing Contest competed at the Provo Towne Mall on Saturday to have their flavors deemed as the signature Sub Zero Ice Cream flavors of the year and Utah has decided which flavors will reign.
The flavors of the year are Berries O’Chocolate, by Rosalyn Caywood, who took third place; Cookie Tree, by Nate Kuhlman who placed second. And Carnival Fun, by Stephanie Webb Jacobsen, captivated the crowd to take first place. Three winners were chosen based on popular vote. The public voted for the contestants via Facebook or by texting in their favorites. Jacobsen, who took first and won one year of free ice cream from Sub Zero, was excited to see everyone’s enthusiasm about their creations.
“One of my favorite parts was watching people come back over to my spot and while having their phones out, looking at my picture to see what number to text it to,” Jacobsen said. “It was fun seeing that people really did like my creation.”
Jacobsen first discovered Sub Zero Ice Cream last October after giving birth to her fifth child. She was having some “baby blues” at the time and her mom thought Sub Zero was just what she needed. Jacobsen’s mother has been a fan of the ice cream for quite some time, but Jacobsen had never gone before, but little did she know that Sub Zero Ice Cream would quickly become her favorite place.
“Ever since then, I go in at least once, if not twice a week… okay maybe, sometimes three times a week,” said Jacobsen.
Money has been tight for Jacobsen and her family, but Sub Zero Ice Cream has become great “date night” activity for her and her husband.
“My husband is going to school full time to become a teacher and I do daycare in my home to keep us a float, but we don’t go out much or try a lot of new things because of our money situation,” Jacobsen explained. “Sub Zero is not only good, but it’s in our price range for our weekly date night and we both love it.”
