New Agency Bringing Ottawa Some Social Media Clout

A digital agency has opened in Ottawa in response to the growing use of social media by private and public sector marketers.

Ottawa, Canada, May 07, 2011 --(PR.com)-- Clout Marketing Company, a new digital agency in Ottawa, is making waves responding to the city’s growing need for professional solutions in the social media landscape.

Clout furnishes traditional digital media services, such as creating websites and online advertising; however, as the start-up had expected, they are most frequently called upon for their non-traditional interactive capabilities, especially when it comes to putting a brand or persona into social networks.

“Everyone now recognizes and strives for the potency of creating a brand-centric game for Facebook, an iPad experience or in having someone manage and optimize their social media presence professionally,” explains Charles Crosbie, Clout’s founder.

On the heels of a heated federal election, and with every business and NGO now trying to stake their place and to put their best face forward on-line, the arrival of Clout is being very well-received. To date, their efforts have produced phenomenal results for their clients.

“Clout has played an integral role in the Canadian International Learning Foundation’s growth from a newly established charity to a respected grassroots non-government organization and will play an equally important role in making us a household name,” explains Ryan Aldred, President and Founder of CanILF, a non-profit client.

“In a remarkably short period of time, Clout has helped the Foundation to reach tens of thousands of potential supporters, establish and grow our Twitter presence...and dramatically increase traffic to our web site,” said Aldred, adding that he would recommend Clout “to anyone who is interested in social media, buzz-marketing, and cutting-edge advertising strategies.”

Rob Herrera, Vice President of client H3Creative Inc., states that, “Clout have been paramount in helping H3Creative introduce and develop social media channels.”

Clout was established in Ottawa in late 2010 by Charles Crosbie, a media executive from Toronto who had previously lead subsidiaries of Rogers Communications and Young & Rubicam Advertising. Crosbie moved to the Wellington West area of Ottawa two years ago to work in the area’s thriving branded entertainment industry.

In that time, while working on large-scale social media campaigns (such as promoting the launch of the CBC/BBC/ABC TV series Being Erica), Crosbie recognized the need for effective and creative agency solutions for those investing in the “new” new media arenas like Twitter and Facebook.

"Our clients are coming to us from both the private and public sectors to create something different, something viral, valuable and impacting. We saw first-hand the influence that social campaigning had on the recent election. Today’s marketer, whether they are selling a product or a politician, sees the intrinsic role that interactive engagement now plays in the productivity of their messaging,” Crosbie explains.

Clout’s growing roster of its inaugural clients illustrates this demand and how widespread it has become: the firm’s key accounts include NGOs such as the Society of Obstetrician Gynaecologists of Canada and the YMCA-YWCA, along with numerous small-medium enterprises and corporate brands.

Crosbie plans on growing the successful start-up this spring in response to the meteoric demand for their specialized services.
