Calloway’s and Cornelius Nursery Summer Garden Events for Children Return for the Third Summer

Parents who are looking for something fun and educational for children ages five through 10 can join all Calloway’s and Cornelius Nursery locations for the third annual Callie’s Kids summer series program on the third Wednesday of June, July and August.

Fort Worth, TX, May 07, 2011 --(PR.com)-- The gardening and naturistic activities teach children the importance of recycling and provide some outdoor gardening fun through the development of a craft. Each event lasts about an hour, from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., at the O2 Planting for the Future Station at all Calloway’s and Cornelius Nursery locations.

In June, children will learn about butterflies by making his or her own with a coffee filter and pipe cleaner. They will also learn which flowers attract butterflies. In July children will have the opportunity to make a special flower using tissue paper and learn about summer Texas flowers. Then, in August, children can plant tomato seeds in recycled tin cans while identifying the parts of a tomato plant. Children are encouraged to bring his or her own empty, clean tin can. All of these learning opportunities are free to the public. Children who participate will learn ways they can help the earth and can take his or her finished craft home.

“We are very excited to offer these events for a third year. Calloway’s and Cornelius love little gardeners!” Kimberly Bird, Vice President of Retail Marketing said.
