Official Launch of FirstSpirit 4.2 Release 4
Dortmund, Germany, May 12, 2011 --(PR.com)-- e-Spirit AG has officially released the current version of their content management system FirstSpirit 4.2 release 4 (4.2R4). The ramp up program has therefore been concluded on schedule and the release is now available with no restrictions. In this final validation and quality assurance phase, the market-ready software was implemented exclusively by selected customers and implementation partners in various internet, intranet and portal projects with close support by e-Spirit product management and the development department.
New functions for outstanding usability
FirstSpirit 4.2R4 offers numerous innovative functional enhancements and usability improvements, facilitating the management of digital content and easing editors’ day-to-day work.
FirstSpirit AppCenter integrates virtually any application into the CMS
Presented at CeBIT, the FirstSpirit AppCenter provides FirstSpirit versions from 4.2R4 with unique possibilities for directly integrating cloud, SaaS and desktop applications into the CMS. Numerous applications that are frequently used in editing environments can be easily incorporated, including MS Office programs, image editing functions, online image databases and video, geolocation, web analysis or email marketing services as well as online encyclopedias. Content from integrated applications is immediately available in the FirstSpirit editing surface. This data can be imported, edited and saved in FirstSpirit with a click of the mouse or via drag & drop and published on the organization’s website, on the Intranet or through any number of other (even mobile) output channels. Thanks to the seamless AppCenter integration into JavaClient, online editors can continue using their familiar applications within the CMS instead of having to switch to external systems which was the case in the past. This simplifies the editing process, saving a lot of time and reducing costs.
With 4.2R4, an API is made available allowing partners and customers to independently develop custom web application integrations for the FirstSpirit AppCenter. Development partners in particular are thereby receiving a powerful tool to implement attractive integration solutions in their area of expertise with little effort, offering them quickly and easily for concrete projects and as standard modules.
Revised WebClient is even more intuitive
The WebClient, which is the FirstSpirit editing interface for “occasional” editors and allows the rapid, straightforward editing of web content in the browser view, has undergone a complete facelift. The search function was also revised.
The RichText editor for editing body text is now even more similar to Word, making text processing even more intuitive so that editing requires virtually no training.
The WebEdit toolbar was modified so that, for example, the current status of a page is available at a glance and the corresponding workflow can be launched with just one click.
With the “My Changes” function, users can view all pages of a project they have created or modified.
A search window for full text searches within a project is now available on every preview page of the WebClient. It serves to search the page and site store, and the results can be filtered for a certain editing period or user.
Some examples of the many other improvements include the revision and expansion of input components for editors, allowing comfortable and intuitive editing even for complex data models, as well as the comprehensive revision of documentation, translation help and the version comparison.
