Metalogix StoragePoint Now Available Through the EMC Select Program
StoragePoint Externalizes SharePoint BLOB Data to Improve SharePoint Performance and Scalability for EMC Storage
Las Vegas, NV, May 11, 2011 --(PR.com)-- EMC World – Metalogix Software, the leading provider in content lifecycle management (CLM) solutions for Microsoft® SharePoint®, Exchange®, and legacy environments, announced today that Metalogix StoragePoint is now available through EMC® Select, a program which helps customers easily acquire components that comprise an information infrastructure. Metalogix StoragePoint, when integrated with the broad array of EMC storage platforms including VMAX, VNX Series, Centera, Atmos, and Data Domain, offers unprecedented performance, scalability and management gains for Microsoft SharePoint environments, lowering the total cost of ownership for SharePoint deployments.
“Metalogix StoragePoint fully leverages EMC’s industry leading storage platforms to enhance SharePoint manageability, scalability and protection without affecting functionality, performance or end-user experience,” said Paul Brown, VP of EMC Select Program. “We are pleased to offer Metalogix StoragePoint through our EMC Select program to further enable simplified SharePoint management and a lower total cost of SharePoint ownership for our mutual customers.”
Using Metalogix StoragePoint with EMC storage, SharePoint users can now improve the performance, utilization and protection of their SharePoint content with an end-to-end SharePoint data management solution that delivers deduplication, encryption, archiving, tiering, snapmirroring, recovery and data protection – on premise or in the cloud. Metalogix StoragePoint delivers an average 95 percent reduction in overhead and 65 percent increase in capacity giving SharePoint users a comprehensive solution to grow, manage and protect their SharePoint content.
Metalogix StoragePoint achieves these benefits by externalizing SharePoint content Binary Large Objects (BLOBs) so that they may be stored on less-expensive or more appropriate storage systems, like EMC’s VMAX, VNX Series, Centera, Atmos, and Data Domain. This means SQL clusters can be right-sized for optimal performance. This can dramatically reduce the size of the SharePoint content database while still maintaining critical metadata in the SQL Server. Organizations can also leverage snapshot and mirroring technology for more efficient BLOB store recovery and overall content lifecycle management. Through externalization, BLOBs can also be externalized to a compliance based platform, such as EMC Centera, a cloud-based platform such as EMC Atmos, or implemented into a hierarchical storage management solution where data can be moved to less expensive storage tiers as it becomes less relevant.
“As organizations strategically move more and more content to SharePoint for collaboration and content management, its primary storage requirements will continue to explode,” said Steve Murphy, CEO Metalogix. “Logically, when you deploy more content on SharePoint you see increased information management benefits. At the same time, the creation of large unstructured BLOBs associated with SharePoint files can significantly impact the performance of SharePoint. Metalogix StoragePoint externalizes the SharePoint BLOBs to a file system on EMC VNX unified storage for significant improvement in primary storage utilization without any performance loss.”
