Stone Arch Books, an imprint of Capstone, has signed with legendary skateboarding pioneer Tony Hawk to create Tony Hawk’s 900 Revolution, a new action-adventure, sci-fi series for kids.
Minneapolis, MN, May 14, 2011 --(PR.com)-- Stone Arch Books, an imprint of Capstone, the leading publisher of children’s books and digital products and services, has signed with legendary skateboarding pioneer Tony Hawk to create Tony Hawk’s 900 Revolution, a new action-adventure, sci-fi series for kids. Inspired by Tony Hawk’s famous feat—landing the 900 trick, a 2.5 revolution (900 degrees) aerial spin—the series debuts August 1, 2011 with four titles. The project will extend through spring 2014 and ultimately produce 24 new titles for young readers.
Tony Hawk will be at the Capstone booth #2952 at Book Expo America (BEA) at the Javitts Center in New York City, from 10:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, May 26 signing advance reader copies from the series. Conference attendees can enter a drawing for a Tony Hawk autographed skateboard throughout the conference at the Capstone booth. One random winner will be selected to receive the prize on Thursday directly following Tony Hawk’s signing.
“We’re thrilled to partner on this project with Tony Hawk. Connecting his brand of action and innovation to the importance of literacy produces a powerful combination readers will love. Our Tony Hawk’s 900 Revolution titles have it all—extreme sports, adventure and sci-fi rolled into one killer set of books,” said Ashley Andersen Zantop, Capstone Group Publisher and General Manager.
In Tony Hawk’s 900 Revolution, at the moment Tony Hawk finally captures the Holy Grail of skateboarding and lands the first-ever 900, a mysterious force shatters his board and scatters the pieces across the globe. A talented group of teens unite in an eternal quest to bring the board – and its power – back together again.
The series features 128 pages of action and adventure with an intense 16-page graphic novel section in the middle of each book. The series will be available in paperback and hardcover formats. E-galleys from Tony Hawk’s 900 Revolution will be available online later this month at www.NetGalley.com.
In conjunction with the book series, an interactive website for kids will launch May 23 at www.TonyHawkReadingRevolution.com. The site features a revolution game which sends kids across the globe in search of the missing skateboard pieces, along with videos, downloadables, and character and author bios.
