Denny Dolci Joins St. Jude Golf Club as Head Golf Professional
Chicora, PA, May 14, 2011 --(PR.com)-- “Saint Jude Golf Club has a great reputation as an excellent course, and I’m very happy to be joining the Club at this point in its history.” So says Dennis “Denny” Dolci, a highly regarded and long-time golf pro in Western Pa., who just joined St. Jude as head golf professional. Dolci is responsible for all golf related operations at the Club, including daily management and oversight of the course, pro shop and staff, fundraising and member-guest tournaments, the Club’s popular Stay and Play programs and other activities. He will offer private lessons and clinics, and will oversee opening of the Club’s new driving range later this summer.
Dolci is very well known to Western Pa. golfers, having been a golf pro at Sharon Country Club in Sharon for 23 seasons. He worked at Oaktree Country Club in West Middlesex for two years after that, and was most recently with Tam O’Shanter in Hermitage, Pa. A very active member of the Tri-State PGA, Dolci has been on its board of directors for 12 years and was honored as its 2005 Golf Professional of the Year.
“The changes that have already been made and those that are in the planning stages – not only to the golf course – but to the entire property, are going to add to the allure of this course,” add Dolci. I’m honored to be part of what’s happening here at St. Jude and look forward to bringing the Club to a wider audience.”
Dolci is a tremendous addition to the staff at St. Jude, according to President Colin Dunwoody. “His reputation in Western Pa. and throughout the golf community is a great asset for our members and those who come to play the course from the local area and beyond. He knows how to improve on what is already a great golfing experience. Needless to say, our members are ecstatic that we were able to bring in someone of Denny’s caliber to St. Jude.”
Dolci, 50, grew up and still lives in Sharon, Pa. with his wife, Michelle. The couple has three grown daughters – Angela, Jacqueline and Cara. He graduated from Sharon High School and earned a Bachelor of Science Degree from the University of Louisville, where he played on the golf team for four years. He became a pro in 1984.
About St. Jude Golf Club
St. Jude is known for its highly manicured course and fast, true putting surfaces, and is located amidst the panoramic views of the Alleghenies. Just northeast of Butler, Pa., it’s consistently ranked as one of the Top 20 most challenging courses in Western Pa. Fondly known as “the Oakmont of the North,” given its long-standing ties to the world-renowned course, St. Jude plays to a challenging Par 70/6,712 yards, with a 73.3/138 course and slope rating from the championship tees. It can be enjoyed by golfers of all levels, but its reputation helps attract top amateurs as members who compete successfully in the national ranks. Designed in 1927 by highly regarded architect Emil Loeffler, it operated as a private club for 80 years, but is now semi-private, offering a variety of membership levels, very competitive daily rates and highly affordable Stay and Play packages with complementary shuttle service. Many upgrades have been made recently, with additional improvements including a practice facility opening in 2011; a new planned dining/entertainment venue; expansion of the pro shop; and a re-launch of the club’s restaurant.
