The Door Brake Company Celebrates One Year of Helping Women in Need
The company has been providing its product, a door security device that prevents home intrusions by gripping any flooring surface, to battered women’s shelters, churches and other groups that support abuse victims. Employees said it has been rewarding to work with abused women and help them feel safe in their homes.

One woman the Door Brake Company helped out came home to find her front door locks and jamb obliterated by an ex boyfriend who forced his way through the door and spray painted threatening images on her walls. It was going to take overnight for the victim to arrange for a carpenter to repair the door, and the thought of having an unsecured door when under the threat of harm was terrifying to her. The Door Brake Company placed their product in front of the broken door to temporarily secure it for the night. After having two very large men push on the door it was apparent that the door was secure.
Nalepka said he has felt honored to help these women during a very vulnerable period in their lives. Often, abusers are not in police custody and have keys to their victims’ homes; the Door Brake, he said, has provided them with vital protection.
“I have personally met women at their residence to set up Door Brakes up for them,” he said. “The looks on their faces when I pull on, push and kick on the door demonstrating how the product will protect them is priceless – that’s why I do this outreach effort. Often I find women that I just met, crying in my arms as the feeling of relief soaks in.”
