Boston, MA, March 12, 2007 --(PR.com)-- Privately held Fox Media Services, (FMS) announces, a company D/B/A name addition. FMS adds d/b/a Fox Media Lab. They will continue to provide admin and finance under the 16-year-old FMS company designation. “Fox Media Lab d/b/a name better describes the spectrum of digital initiatives we are involved with. The Lab creates working business models that engage users while appealing to benefactors, funding, and buyers of the Lab’s incubations,” says Owner Joe Fox.
Fox Media Lab evolved from exclusively providing media services to also “creating” media. They have experimented with many internet business models, most recently UBZ2.COM, a maturing social networking portal that provides Sports and Activity Team Management while building the most comprehensive “Schedule” portal on the internet. “It shows promise as a page view leader,” owner Fox says.
Fox works on several Internet incubations at any given time. “Our initiatives are threatening to break out like Digital Frankensteins,” but adds, “a Lab is no place to raise Frankie,” jokes Fox. UBZ2.Com their first initiative, under the new Lab had 275,000 page views with over ~1MM ad impressions in its first 12 months and it hadn’t been marketed or gone into “released” beta. It makes for a strong primary incubation.
The Lab’s mandates and missions are:
• Fox Media Lab studies commercialization of meshed communications modes: Distributed media forms, technical applications, ergo, Satellitic, WiFi, IP, Mobile, GPS, Ham, FRS, Radio, TV, Emergency Frequencies, and inter-home, unwired and wired, including fiber.
• Incubates commercially viable media networks. Reports findings &/or offerings. Many of these will be for the public good, and may be funded through grants or self-sustaining, i.e. EmergencyFrequency.net, EmergencyAlert.US, rescuesearch.net, saveswater.net, savesenergy.net, etc.
• Study of digital content, and the platforms they are carried on, and they way it is consumed and in turn the devices, software, unique deliveries and user interfaces, e.g. MMRP, P2P, Social, Portal, gaming, etc.
• Long Term: Commercial saturations and their effect on us. Study of frequencies and their effect on us. Technically advanced laboratory. Endowment.
Fox Media Lab develops portals, sites and new business models, backed by an exclusive portfolio comprising thousands of technology domains. Owning the Internet real estate is essential prior to development. “The Lab has Direct Access Search-able domains that have become our distinct advantage; We get direct access or navigation, but they are also friendly to search engines and are searched as they are said. It is a primal search thing,” says Fox. These domains provide the Lab immediate traffic to incubations and allow users a taste of their models quickly. All good models need traffic.
A portion of Fox’s portfolio can be found at TechDomainSales.Com, a site being built. There you can find a virtual listing of technologies that are about to, or are happing now. “Media, Technology & Entertainment Generics have been our targets from day one, we don’t want any rights hassles and they literally spell out many of our objectives,” says Fox. Fox Media Lab has to cannibalize some domain assets to further develop others until benefactors and investors get more intimately involved.
Fox Media Lab plans a series of announcements about their UGC, streaming DR, social portal UBZ2.com in the coming weeks. This won’t preclude funding or addition of company officers. “With our mandate it means letting go of projects to those that can guide them so that they reach their potential. UBZ2 may be one of these,” says Fox.
Most portals, even streaming ones, rely primarily on advertising models. Fox Media Lab has portals planned like ADVERTISMENTS.MOBI and AdsStreamming.Com, but they believe the real earnings and what will ultimately be the driver for many of their incubations, will be Direct Sales. It is a great opportunity for companies to utilize digital delivery to sell their products and services to the masses in a fun and intimate way. Most Lab initiatives come loaded with video, UGC and supporting docs banded together in a relevant place, even on the move, with their many forthcoming .MOBI offerings.
Fox Media Lab creates primarily Internet 2.0 incubations: Shared - Streaming, Publishing (UGC), Social Networking. They are also looking at 3.O with its promise of 50,000+ channels over IP, Mobile, Voice Nav, Translation, GPS, satellite, 3d, localization and Virtual Reality all integrated with human resource management (scheduling). The Lab believes communication is accelerating innovation in energy, transportation, natural resource management and medicine. The Lab is ready for those too.
