Jose Irauzqui Interviewed by "Travelers411" Radio Host Stephanie Abrams!

Stowe, VT, May 16, 2011 --(PR.com)-- Jose Irauzqui, President of Yampu Tours, recently spoke with fellow travel expert Stephanie Abrams on the "Travelers411" radio show in New York City. The interview took place during the New York Times Travel Show.

Jose Irauzqui was born in Peru but eventually moved to England to study because the political turmoil was mounting in his homeland. He became a barrister but decided instead to follow his heart back to his native country to share the beauty of it with others. Thirteen years after founding Yampu Tours with his wife, Monica, the company continues to customize trips of a lifetime throughout Latin America for the adventurous.

After an industry-wide vote last year, travelers and peers awarded Jose Irauzqui and Yampu Tours with the World Travel Award as South America’s Best Tour Operator.

Irauzgui sat down with “Travelers411” radio host Stephanie Abrams. Some highlights:

"Yampu is the reed boat that you see on Lake Titicaca which straddles the borders of Peru and Bolivia," said Irauzqui, "We chose it because we specialize in Latin America.”

"The good thing about South America is that six months of the year are busy on the highlands of Peru, Ecuador and Bolivia. The other six months are a great time to visit Brazil, Chile, Argentina, and Patagonia," said Irauzqui. "Clients can go year round."

"During a 15-day vacation, it's easy to see 2 or 3 different countries. It's not like a beach destination where people just go to rest, although there are places you can do that in Brazil or Costa Rica. Most clients want active; culture, wildlife, a packed itinerary."

“A good itinerary for first-time visitors to Latin America is Peru,” said Irauzqui. "It's where the indigenous cultures originated, the Incas. There's a lot of history and pre-Colombian samples in the museums of Lima and Cuzco. And, there’s Macchu Picchu.”

Jose Irauzqui said Yampu Tours is always exploring new ground. “As the economy improves, Columbia is getting better. We're actually booking quite a few trips there. As the summer arrives in the north, bookings increase for ski trips to the south. The skiing in Chile is fantastic; Portillo is a classic resort that's been around since the 1940s and only two hours from Santiago there's Valle Nevado, which is a great option too.”

Based in Stowe, Vermont with 12 years of experience, Yampu Tours has a A+ rating at the BBB (Better Business Bureau), is a member of ASTA (the American Society of Travel Agents), and bonded with ARC (American Airlines Reporting Corporation) and IATA.
