South Nassau Communities Hospital to Host Forum on Healthcare Needs of Women

The forum's seminars will focus on lung cancer in women, advances in breast cancer screening, women’s overall health and surgery options for gynecologic oncology patients, and advancements in the detection and treatment of colon cancer in women.

Oceanside, NY, May 18, 2011 --(PR.com)-- The expert insight and information that women need to understand and prepare for their special, personal healthcare needs will be provided at South Nassau Communities Hospital’s Annual Women’s Health Forum to be held Saturday, May 21 from 9 AM – 12 PM in the hospital’s conference center.

The symposium’s seminar track is as follows:

- Shahriyour Andaz, MD, FACS, director of thoracic oncology, will discuss lung cancer in women, its effects and the newest developments in surgery and treatment options;

- George Autz, MD, medical director of Complete Women’s Imaging, P.C., will provide a comprehensive review on advances in breast cancer screening including digital screening and diagnostic mammography technology, ultrasound and MRI of the breast;

- Jeannine Gismondi, RN, gynecologic oncology, will focus on women’s overall health and the advances in surgery options for gynecologic oncology patients;

- Vincent Reid, MD, associate surgeon, Surgical Oncology Program, will speak about the advances in the detection and treatment of colon cancer in women.

Attendees of the symposium will also be treated to a continental breakfast as well as hands-on testing of the da Vinci® Surgical System.
