LumiGrow Expands Management Team, Adds Neil Coppinger as VP Sales and Caroline Nordahl as VP Marketing
Green technology veterans will drive market adoption of energy-efficient LumiGrow LED lighting solutions for horticulture.
San Francisco, CA, May 26, 2011 --(PR.com)-- LumiGrow, Inc. (www.lumigrow.com), the technology leader in LED lighting solutions for horticulture, today announced the appointment of two executives to lead sales and marketing strategy. The Company named Neil Coppinger as Vice President of sales and Caroline Nordahl as Vice President of marketing.
"Green agriculture solutions like LumiGrow® LED systems are taking off because they improve crop yield and growers’ margins,” said LumiGrow CEO Kevin Wells. “We’re excited to welcome Ms. Nordahl and Mr. Coppinger, both of whom have a proven track record for driving rapid market adoption of sustainable technologies," he added.
Neil Coppinger, Vice President of sales, joined LumiGrow from the smart water management leader HydroPoint Data Systems, where he developed and led national accounts. Prior, he held sales management positions with Sprint and SHL Systemhouse. Vice President of Marketing Caroline Nordahl, also from HydroPoint, has been creating demand for green technology solutions for over a decade. Ms. Nordahl previously held marketing management positions with BuildPoint and Robert Half International.
The two executives will focus on furthering the company’s mission of delivering energy-efficient lighting solutions that enable greenhouse growers to produce abundantly healthy crops and cut operating expenses while they comply with AB32 and bans on wasteful lighting products.
Over $20 billion of crops are grown in greenhouses in the US. Greenhouse growers supplement sunlight with high-intensity discharge (HID) lighting to boost crop growth throughout the seasons. According to USDA census data and Purdue University research, 75 million square feet of commercial greenhouses are lit with HID fixtures. Based on technology intended to provide general illumination rather than to promote photosynthesis, HID lamps waste more than 50 percent of the energy they consume, costing large greenhouse facilities millions of dollars in electrical bills annually.
LumiGrow LED lights offer a straightforward, drop-in implementation process for phased roll-outs, complete HID retrofits and new installations. LumiGrow customers include two of the world’s leading agribusinesses, one of the nation’s largest basil farms as well as numerous research institutions. The combination of increased yields, energy savings, utility subsidies and financing options frequently makes LumiGrow a cash-positive or cash-neutral investment right from the start.
