L-com Expands USB Offering with Type B Coupler/Cable Products
Coupler allows USB cables to pass through panels or enclosures.

They are the ECF504-xxBBS products (a female panel-mount connector to a male type B connector) and the ECF504-B-5M products (a female panel-mount coupler with 5-meter cable).
"The type A USB versions were very popular with our customers, but until now we've had no cable assembly option with the type B USB jack in a flange-mount ECF option," said Steve Smith, product manager. "Now we're offering both as off-the-shelf products, which, combined with the flexibility, ease-of-use and reliable connections, should put these products in high demand."
The ECF504-xxBBS products feature a bulkhead Type B jack to a molded Type B plug attached via USB 2.0-compliant cable. These cables can be directly connected to a mating connector inside an enclosure. Screw mounting ensures secure installations and 30 microinch gold-plated contacts provide reliable connections with repeated mating cycles. The assemblies are fully shielded and the ECF504-style housing can be used with virtually any panel thickness. The ECF504-xxBBS is available in lengths of 12, 24, 36, 72, and 120 inches, and custom lengths are available upon request with minimal quantity requirements.
The ECF504-B-5M product is unique in that it allows users the flexibility to configure their own assemblies. The products feature a shielded bulkhead Type B jack with 5 meters of unterminated USB 2.0-compliant cable. The user can cut the cable to the desired length and hard wire or terminate it with their connector of choice. These also screw-mount for secure installations and have 30 microinch gold-plated contacts that ensure reliable connections with repeated mating cycles. This assembly is fully shielded and also usable in virtually any panel thickness. L-com can custom-terminate these cable ends with modest minimum requirements.
