Bartlett, NH, May 27, 2011 --(PR.com)-- Attitash Mountain Resort is scheduled to open summer & fall operations beginning Saturday, May 28th at 10 a.m. for its 35th summer attraction season. This summer’s 35-year anniversary recognizes when the original Alpine Slides, opening this weekend and still the longest lengths in North America, were first opened to the public on July 1, 1976. With many more summer attractions having been added at the base of Attitash Mountain since then, the Nor’Easter Mountain Coaster is the newest thrill ride, having just opened last fall, to be offered to those visiting the White Mountains for the upcoming long weekend and summer vacation periods.

Similar in concept to a “roller coaster” where riders are seated in carts that travel on a very smooth pair of rails elevated off the ground, the new Nor’Easter Mountain Coaster is different in that it utilizes natural gradients of the mountain bringing guests up 1,430 feet of track before descending on a fun and exhilarating 2,880-foot long ride down through the wooded terrain. With a single ride ticket costing only $15, or included in the higher priced day tickets, the ride includes banked turns, dips and straight-aways at rider-controlled speeds of up to 25 mph. Shirts and shoes are required to ride and children must be at least 3 years of age to go on the ride. Ride restrictions also include persons must be at least 9 years old and at least 52 inches tall to ride alone and for two-persons to ride double, at least one rider must be 16 years old.

Also unique to Attitash Mountain Resort, the opening Memorial Day Weekend begins lift-serviced, downhill, mountain biking on a network of 27 designated trails that Attitash has continued to develop and maintain for summer & fall mountain bike use. Attitash has over 20 miles of mountain bike trails including the more difficult and technically challenging lift-serviced downhill trails and 8 cross-country trails more suited to all abilities and those just beginning to discover mountain biking as a recreational activity.

The Nor’Easter Mountain Coaster, alpine slides, and mountain biking will be open as weather permits for weekends only at reduced day ticket rates beginning Saturday, May 28th and then will begin to operate daily Saturday, June 11th at regular ticket rates when the waterslides and Buddy Bear’s Playpool, horseback riding and hand-led pony rides along the Saco River, Scenic Sky Ride, 24 foot climbing wall, and the EuroBungy Trampoline also become available. Summer season passes are now on sale and begin as low as $99 for persons over 48 inches tall. Mountainside lodging is available at the Attitash Grand Summit Hotel featuring quality accommodations, year-round heated outdoor pool and spas, fitness center, massage therapy, and casual dining at Crawford’s Pub and Grill. All rates and information can be found online at attitash.com or by calling 1-800-223 SNOW.
