Stephen Dent Construction Announces 250 Days Without Accident or Injury
Green Moor, WI, May 28, 2011 --(PR.com)-- Stephen Dent Construction has long been considered one of the safest construction companies in the greater Milwaukee area, and today they announced a landmark milestone-250 days without accident or injury.
The issue of workplace safety has always been a hot button issue, and undoubtedly the cost of workplace injuries drives up prices in both the service and product injuries. In the United States alone, billions of dollars are spent every year on workman’s compensation claims. These figures include the price of treating injured workers, investigating the conditions of the injury (and occasionally ruling out fraudulent claims), and training new and current employees on workplace safety and proper equipment usage.
OSHA, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration, makes every effort to implement laws and guidelines for creating safe workspaces, but they are limited by funding and time constraints. They simply can’t be everywhere at once, and so many companies are never subjected to an OSHA review, and it ultimately becomes the responsibility of the company as a whole and the managers and individuals to ensure that the working environment meets or exceeds standards.
The news of 250 days without incident is huge in the construction industry, so there is no wonder why Stephen Dent Construction would be so proud of it’s clean track record. 250 days is close to an entire year without accident, and the incident that broke the 202 day streak last fall was a minor one. A construction worker twisted his ankle while getting out of a Stephen Dent Construction truck. The injury was insignificant and the employee was back to work within 2 days.
An appeal to safety standards is a part of Stephen Dent’s new Green Living plan, which incorporates safety for both employees and the planet. By using cleaner, eco-friendly products and chemicals, Stephen Dent believes that they can eliminate harmful side effects like cancer of black lung that occasionally result from construction chemicals (think asbestos) while reducing the amount of pollution currently created by new construction projects.
Stephen Dent, owner of the company, was quoted saying “We are extremely proud of our company and our employees. I believe we can make it for the full 365 days. Great job everyone!”
