American Institute of Architects (AIA) Georgia Board Elects Roy Abernathy of Jova/Daniels/Busby Architects 2012 President
Atlanta, GA, May 29, 2011 --(PR.com)-- At the recent American Institute of Architects (AIA) Georgia Annual Membership meeting, the AIA Georgia Membership elected Roy Abernathy, AIA, President and CEO of Atlanta-based Jova/Daniels/Busby Architects, 2012 President. Abernathy will serve as President-Elect in 2011 working alongside AIA GA President, Edward Bernard, AIA.
“It’s a great honor for me to serve as AIA GA President-Elect for 2011 and President for 2012. Ed Bernard and I are committed to implementing strategies that will continue to facilitate revival during these more challenging economic times,” said Abernathy. “My main initiative is to further promote reinforcement of our relationship with state government by serving as AIA liaison on government / AIA related issues that will support and advance smart growth and change.”
Throughout the next year as President-Elect of the AIA Georgia Board, Abernathy will also fulfill responsibilities of the President in his absence, work with AIA staff to oversee efficient operations of the organization, and serve as AIA Georgia representative of the South Atlantic Regional Council.
Abernathy is Principal with Jova/Daniels/Busby Architects serving as President and Chief Executive Officer and is a partner with FWAJDB Architects. He is actively involved in AIA Georgia, a member of the Industrial Designers Society of America (IDSA), National Council of Architectural Registration Board (NCARB) and is a Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Accredited Professional.
As a green building advocate and authority, Abernathy has led the certification and commissioning on numerous projects including a number of the earliest projects to receive LEED Certification in the state of Georgia. His expertise in operations, program management, real estate strategy and sustainable design span a broad range of industry sectors including civic, hospitality, religious, corporate and higher education with a dedicated specialty in veterinary medicine facilities.
AIA Georgia is the largest professional association of licensed architects and associated professionals in the state of Georgia.
