801 Racing Teams Up with Cody Perkins to Win the NHRA Summer Nationals
Topeka, KS, May 31, 2011 --(PR.com)-- Cody "Flash" Perkins only had eight pistons for the entire race weekend. In fact, on the Monday preceding the race he had none. So how did Perkins manage to win the Top Alcohol Dragster title at the NHRA Summer Nationals?
Perkins parlayed those few slugs into consistent time slips and round victories. The newly sponsored 801 Racing Top Alcohol Dragster qualified 8th and in first round action got by Edwin Schmeeckle with a 5.55 @ 252.90mph. On Sunday, Cody lined up against #2 qualifier, Mark Taliaferro for round 2 eliminations. "Flash" got the hole shot with a 0.033 reaction time and pulled away from Taliaferro. Cody continued to hold on for a victory win of 5.38 @ 262.59mph. For round 3, Cody got a bye and idled down the track to save precious resources. He faced Aaron Tatum in the final round with Tatum having lane choice. For the final round, "Flash" came out hard with the best reaction time of 0.034 and flew down the track to his best time of the year, a 5.37 @ 263.15mph. Those eight pistons served Perkins well, and will share shelf space with the Wally.
So why only eight pistons? Most Drag Racers are well stocked with replacement parts. According to Perkins, "the Vegas race a few weeks back was hard on us and we had some pretty big wounds. So we went home, went to work, and then a new sponsor came to the rescue."
“The folks at 801 Racing called us on a recommendation by our friends and sponsor at CleanBoost Oils. The 801 Racing group wanted a hometown team in the Salt Lake City, UT area that were ready to race and had a family feel. Someone they could sit with and get to know. It was important to them as a family company and to keep it close to home. We invited them to our shop for a lunch meeting to show them our racing operation. We sat down and ended up meeting on into the night. It's a great fit for all of us,” said Perkins.
801 Racing is a privately held company based in Salt Lake City, Utah that produces a unique and innovative ‘solid fuel technology.’ Named Pulse Power Boost, it comes in a solid red ball and is a fuel boost catalyst that completely dissolves in the fuel tank. The increase in power is next to immediate as it fully dissipates once dissolved. The product works in gas, alcohol and diesel engines. Pulse Power Boost will come packaged in a sealed pouch or in an embossed display tin. 801 Racing's, Pulse Power Boost is targeted at the racing community for all forms of motorsports (not intended for street use) that need an edge against the competition in the other lane or to get out ahead of the pack and stay there.
