NLAPW Hosts Three Generations of Photography Exhibit

The National League of American Pen Women hosts Three Generations of Photography—a contemporary American photography exhibit.

Washington, DC, June 01, 2011 --(PR.com)-- Well-known for their nation-wide creative arts activities, the National League of American Pen Women (NLAPW) hosts Three Generations of Photography—a contemporary American photography exhibit featuring artists Bet Wooten, Treanor Wooten Baring, Henry Wallace Baring, and Geoffrey Owen Baring. Opening June 14, 2011 at The Pen Arts Building, 1300 17th Street NW, Washington, DC 20036-1973, the exhibit is available 9 am – 5 pm Monday through Friday until June 26, 2011.

Exhibit Details - Photographs from the Mississippi Delta, Australia, France and Houston, Texas highlight the different perspectives each photographer captures with his or her lens, whether in the tradition of great American photographers such as Aaron Siskind or William Eggleston, or with the fresh, untrained, natural talent of a new generation. Color becomes form, place and pattern give images appeal and light articulates the distinct vision of the four photographers featured.

Included in the exhibit are new works by award winning photographers and National League of American Pen Women, Inc. members Bet Wooten and Treanor Wooten Baring. Also on exhibit are works by Henry and Geoffrey Baring, making this the first tri-generational exhibit ever at the historic Pen Arts Building. Henry Baring’s “eye for compositions and interesting subject matter work together to present uncommonly strong and artistic photos,” says National League of American Pen Women, Inc. National Art Chair, Jamie Tate. “While Henry leans towards a fascination with things architectural, his younger brother Geoffrey has his own ideas about what comprises a good photo. His most interesting shots might include a small flock of sheep or his personal viewpoint of a park.”
