Avid Impresses Audiences with 2011 Product Line Up at AlphaDogs Post Editors' Lounge
Avid rolls out their latest post production technology at AlphaDogs Post Editors' Lounge.
Burbank, CA, June 02, 2011 --(PR.com)-- Burbank based AlphaDogs Post Production Editors’ Lounge drew an attendance of more than 100 people this May, Editors, Assistant Editor’s, and other post production professionals were treated as Avid rolled out their 2011 product line-up.
Principal Product Designer, Doug Hansel demonstrated three of the Avid Artist Series control surfaces connected to Avid’s Media Composer software. This included, Artist Control, a compact 4-fader control surface with a touch screen. Artist Mix, a compact 8-fader control surface, and Artist Transport, a high-performance jog/shuttle/transport control. All surfaces were hooked up and running simultaneously thanks to the Eucon protocol, which works over Ethernet. Editors got hands on time with all three surfaces and learned how to utilize the two different audio automation modes (touch and latch) for a more efficient mixing workflow when using touch sensitive “flying faders.”
Hansel comments, “Using a mouse to mix audio has always been frustrating, so it’s no surprise to see editors get excited about touch sensitive motorized faders when it comes to mixing audio in Media Composer faster and more accurately than ever before. Hansel continues; “Couple this with transport and programmable soft keys, and it’s a clear winner for many editors.”
Frank Capria, Consulting Designer at Avid demonstrated the new PhraseFind option. This $495 option automatically analyzes and indexes your dialog in the background at high speed. Editors can quickly find clips with any dialog across the entire project, even when a project spans shared and local storage. PhraseFind effectively does the listening for the editor. Capria comments, “PhraseFind completely changes the editing paradigm. The ability to search for any phrase of audio and get near instantaneous results within the application gives editors a new definition of efficiency and confidence.”
Steve McNeil, Senior Consulting Designer also gave a sneak tech preview of 3D editing tools that will simplify 3D post production in a future release of Avid’s Media Composer. Philip Hodgetts. President of Intelligent Assistance comments, “If you plan to work in 3D stereo, plan to work with the next version of Media Composer.”
The next Editors’ Lounge will be held on Friday, June 24 at 6:15pm with product demonstrations and workflows from Facilis Technology Inc. To learn more please visit http://www.editorslounge.com
