Two Leading Stroke Experts Host Free Screening and Information Event for Stroke Survivors
Cambridge, MA, June 03, 2011 --(PR.com)-- Healthcare system and technology provider partner to help stroke victims regain arm movement.
In collaboration with Myomo, Inc., Northeast HomeCare and The Center for Rehabilitation at Northeast Hospitals, both members of Northeast Health System, are holding a complimentary screening and educational event on Tuesday, June 14 at the Beverly Hospital Lecture Hall. Appointments for free screenings are available beginning at 10:30 a.m. through 4:00 p.m. A light luncheon presentation will be offered at 12:00 noon.
For adults coping with limited use of their arm due to muscle weakness caused by a stroke or other neurological condition, Myomo and Northeast Health System may be able to help. Myomo’s cutting edge neuro-robotic arm brace was developed at MIT and is used at leading rehabilitation programs around the world, including Northeast HomeCare and The Center Rehabilitation and Sports Medicine. It uses the body’s own biological signals to move the arm again and has been clinically proven effective in patients from two days to 21 years after a stroke.
In conjunction with the skilled physical therapy and other clinical services provided by Northeast Health System, the Myomo program can offer stroke victims more extensive recovery options. According to one Myomo user, stroke survivor Bill, “I have regained arm motion and am able to care for my yard again.” Another survivor, Lori, says, “Myomo has fine-tuned my skills enough to be able to write again.”
During the June 14th event, which is open to the public, therapists will offer complimentary one-on-one screenings and information. Refreshments will be served and caregivers are welcome to attend. Free valet parking is available. To reserve your appointment or for more information, please contact Pamela Gasek at 857-209-4418 or pamela@myomo.com.
