Ozarks Food Harvest Receives GreaterGood Grant to Help Victims of Joplin Tornadoes
Seattle, WA, June 03, 2011 --(PR.com)-- GreaterGood.org announced today that more than $11,000 has been awarded to Ozarks Food Harvest to help fund emergency and recovery response in areas most affected by tornadoes in Joplin, Missouri.
This grant was made possible by donations to the Gift That Give More ™ Deadly U.S. Tornadoes & Flooding - Help Now featured at The Hunger Site (www.TheHungerSite.com) and other websites in The GreaterGood Network.
Previous grants totaling $27,000, and funded completely by this Gift, were awarded in May to Bay Area Food Bank, Alabama; Mid-South Food Bank, Tennessee; and Mississippi Food Network, Mississippi.
Ozarks Food Harvest is working closely with the American Red Cross, SEMA and FEMA organizations to help the victims of the tornado by supplying nonperishable food items, water, baby food, diapers, personal hygiene basics, cleaning supplies, paper products, and other essential item supplies.
Along with their regular pantries and congregate feeding centers, Ozarks Food Harvest has stocked the Emergency Relief Stations located very close to the hardest hit areas. These stations are accessible for those who may not have transportation and need to walk to fetch supplies.
Starting June 1, Ozarks Food Harvest will begin servicing the area with their Mobile Food Pantry trucks as well.
