YesStyle Sponsors the 27th Los Angeles Asian Pacific Film Festival
Los Angeles, CA, June 03, 2011 --(PR.com)-- Leading online fashion retailer YesStyle served as a sponsor of the 27th Los Angeles Asian Pacific Film Festival (LAAPFF) held from April 28 to May 7, 2011 at the Directors Guild of America, Laemmle’s Sunset 5 Theater, CGV Cinemas and additional venues throughout Los Angeles, California.
This year's edition of the LAAPFF featured 180 films and shorts from both Asian Pacific American (APA) and international Asian directors from 20 countries. YesStyle supported the LAAPFF with a cash donation and shopping coupons, and was highlighted at the festival's exclusive Gamer's Night held on April 29.
"YesStyle's contribution to this year's Los Angeles Asian Pacific Film Festival is part of our continued commitment to support Asian talents in the arts," said Joshua Lau, YesStyle's founder and CEO. "We are proud to promote the development of Asian and Asian American artists both behind and in front of the camera."
Tracy Nguyen-Chung, Visual Communications' Director of Sponsorships, expressed her enthusiasm for YesStyle's sponsorship: "As a film festival that seeks to present both Asian and Asian American works, we are very excited about our new partnership with YesStyle and look forward to continued success and growth."
The opening night of the festival presented the blockbuster movie "Fast 5," directed by LAAPFF alumnus Justin Lin. YesStyle partner Wong Fu Productions also participated in the festival through a special program that showcased selected works of the Los Angeles-based filmmaking group, in collaboration with other Asian American YouTube celebrities. In addition to premiere screenings, the event hosted conferences, seminars, panel discussions and special events to enhance the attendees' experience.
Since its creation in 1983 by Visual Communications, a premier Asian Pacific American media arts center in the US, the LAAPFF has become a major annual showcase presenting the best of Asian and Asian Pacific American cinema. The yearly event introduces the latest works of upcoming and established Asian and APA filmmakers and video artists. It also strives to develop and nurture emerging Asian talents through innovative initiatives such as its VC Digital Academy and the Armed With a Camera Fellowship.
