The Hindu Temple of Kentucky is Celebrating Its Re-Inauguration with a Grand Ceremony on June 12, 2011, After Extensive Renovation to the Temple Complex
The Hindu Temple Of Kentucky in Louisville, KY will be celebrating its 12 year anniversary between June 5th - June 12th, 2011. The Temple will be re-inaugurated on June 12th after renovations.
Louisville, KY, June 04, 2011 --(PR.com)-- The Hindu Temple of Kentucky has been servicing the spiritual and religious needs of the Hindu and Jain communities in the greater Louisville area for over the last decade. The Temple started in 1986 as prayer hall, primarily providing a place for the very small community of Indian professionals at that time, to meet, pray and sing Hymns. As the population of the Indian community in the Louisville area grew, the congregation gained strength and the community built a Traditional Temple with authentic Indian architecture and style in 1999.
The temple is one of a kind in Kentucky - the art and architecture in the temple is easily comparable to larger temples in Chicago, Pittsburgh as well temples in India. Over the past decade, the Temple has served as an educational resource of both the Hindu culture and the Traditional temple architecture/art to the local schools and community. The members of the temple are also actively involved in several community service projects and promoting inter-faith relationships.
This year the Indian community is celebrating the 12th anniversary of the Traditional Temple with a grand re-inauguration ceremony called “MahaKumbhabishekam” on Sunday, June 12, 2011.
The Maha-Kumbhabhishekam celebrations will extend over a week, starting on June 5th and end with a Grand finale on the 12th. There will be daily prayers and cultural programs to commemorate the occasion.
In recognition of the Temple and its unique contributions to the diversity of the Louisville diaspora. Our honorable Mayor Greg Fischer has made a proclamation, declaring June 12th as the “Temple Re-Inauguration Celebration Day.” He will also be addressing the community on both June 5, 2010, as the temple starts the re- inauguration week of activities and again on the June 12th where he will officially announce his proclamation.
