About the RAKMF, the RAKMF is a 501-c3 charitable organization established in 2003 after the sudden and unexpected death of Ryan Kaiser. Ryan, the 6-year-old son of Andy and Lauren Kaiser was born with Congenital Heart Disease; Ryan had three open heart surgeries before he was 2 years old. The Ryan Andrew Kaiser Memorial Foundation has three philanthropic goals. The first is to financially assist local families of critically ill children, who may not otherwise be able to afford proper healthcare. The second is to raise and donate funds to hospitals and Doctor Groups that specialize in the cure and care of pediatric heart patients. The last goal of the RAKMF is help build children’s parks and playgrounds, dedicated in Ryan’s name to provide children and their families with a safe and fun place to play. Each year this event grows and families gather for a great day. Last year they raised over $30,000.00, funds that have already been distributed into the community.

The Impact of Ryan’s Run

Monies raised from Ryan’s Run in the last two years have made the following impact in the community:

- Recently the RAKMF made a lead donation of $10,000.00 to the Ronald McDonald House in Long Branch NJ to build a child’s playroom. The home cares for up to eight families at a time who have children undergoing life saving medical procedures in local hospitals.
- For the third year in a row, the trustees of the foundation have made a $10,000.00 donation to help other families with there stay with Deborah Heart and Lung Center. Their gift should provide over 250 nights of free lodging to families that wish to stay at Deborah with their child. This gift should provide for almost 40 different families.
- The Ryan Andrew Kaiser Memorial Funds lead contribution of $25,000.00 enabled the new playground at Leonardo grade school project to happen. It is the largest playground ever built at any of the 12 middle schools in Middletown NJ. Also in 2006 they partnered with a local family who was building a playground in Oceanport NJ in dedication to their daughter who was lost to cancer.
- The RAKMF has again provided a $10,000.00 grant to the Congenital Heart Surgeons Society, a group of over 75 pediatric heart surgeons from hospitals around the country. The RAKMF grant is for a research fellowship.
