Miami Native Sherri Hicks Releases Gospel Single
Introducing Sherri Hicks, the soulful gospel singer/songwriter from sunny South Florida. With many years as a background vocalist and solo performer, she is now stepping out in 2011 with her debut album, "Transforming Praise." Her first single, "Changed," has already gotten rave reviews and is available on Itunes Worldwide. Sherri's voice is soulful and anointed, and she ministers through song. With this album she herself has been transformed.

Transforming Praise, is the debut album of singer/songwriter Sherri Hicks, a Miami native and seasoned gospel performer. Sherri has been singing in church since she was 5 years old. Her single, “Changed,” has just been released and is available on Itunes Worldwide. The upcoming album boasts a myriad of influences ranging from retro Southern Gospel to Neo-Soul. Her favorite singers are Kim Burrell and Lisa McClendon. Sherri aims to transcend any one genre, and by bringing a fresh flavor to praise and worship in this millenium. Her first concert packed a full house, held at Harvest House in Dania Beach. She was accompanied by a full band and state of the art sound engineering. A Concertgoer Demetria Kimmerlain proclaims, "I am still in disbelief. I had tears in my eyes last night. All I can say is it's about time God opened up that floodgate. I have been asking and begging you to sing. You were amazing and so very anointed."
Sherri has been a background vocalist for many singing groups throughout South Florida, and is now ready to step out on her own. Her next single is a swing-inspired track entitled “Tumbling Down.” Nichelle Delaney-Ducksworth says, "This is going straight to #1 on the charts! Awesome song. Can't wait for the entire album to be released."
As well as a singer/songwriter, Sherri is also a motivational speaker/minister and has facilitated events to inspire women and teens. Her goal is to heal those that feel lost, and to help them understand that they are worthy. She is a wife and mother to three teenage daughters. Sherri has been a role model for women who want to pursue a career and maintain a stable home environment.
The Sherri Hicks Transforming Praise Tour will begin on July 9, 2011 at 7:00 p.m. at the African Heritage Cultural Arts Center at 6161 NW 22nd Avenue in Miami, FL. The Gospel Showcase is sponsored by the Joint Alumni Coalition of Miami Dade, an organization that supports programs for the arts and education.
