XtraMedium and Local Committee Announce New Media Anti-Violence Campaign
The Violence Stops Here Committee Announce Start of New Media Driven Youth Performance Competition.
Chicago, IL, June 05, 2011 --(PR.com)-- The Violence Stops Here campaign began in June for youth in Chicago's Chatham, Englewood, and Grand Boulevard communities. The goal is to stimulate the fertile minds of youth and showcase their creative and positive nature throughout the summer campaign.
Alderman Pat Dowell - “Violence is a cancer destroying our youth and communities. We must find more productive ways to express our frustration and seek more understanding with each other. The future of our communities depends on the choices we make today.”
Just in time for summer: Enter the Violence Stops Here Campaign - Chicago Public School Students ages 13 – 19 can submit a short video of a rap, song or spoken word telling the world how Violence Stops or what it will be like to live without Violence in their community. Submissions opened June 1st on YouAspire.com. Open voting begins July 19th. Details online at YouAspire.com.
Residents will be invited to see and comment on videos throughout the voting period. The committee will also moderate bi-weekly public webinars to take creative input and update residents.
