While chlorhexidine gluconate is highly effective in helping reduce or prevent surgical site infections, the alcohol content in the formula can actually remove the surgical markings on the patient’s skin during prep. The WriteSite Plus Surgical Skin Marker contains a unique Gentian Violet ink that is specifically formulated for use with ChloraPrep. The ink remains three times darker than standard Gentian Violet ink after prep with ChloraPrep products and is formulated to reduce blurring. Use of the WriteSite Plus Marker also reduces the need for remarking after prep, saving valuable time and reducing possible errors. Most importantly, it allows for greater visibility of surgical markings to support correct site surgery and compliance with the Joint Commission’s Universal Protocol.
