Hearts of Gold to Hold “Kids Walk for Kids” Fundraiser, Supporting NYC’s Homeless Mothers & Children
Hearts of Gold invites the community's participation in their first annual “Kids Walk for Kids” Fundraiser, to be held Saturday, July 9, 2011 at 9:00 a.m. in NYC's Riverside Park.
New York, NY, June 09, 2011 --(PR.com)-- Hearts of Gold (http://www.heartsofgold.org), a not-for-profit organization that fosters sustainable change in lifestyle and levels of self-sufficiency for homeless mothers and their children, invites the community to participate in the organization’s first annual “Kids Walk for Kids” Fundraiser. The two-mile event will be held Saturday, July 9, 2011 at 9:00 a.m. in New York City’s Riverside Park at the 83rd Street entrance; check-in will begin at 8:00 a.m. Participants can register by visiting https://heartsofgold.ejoinme.org/KidsWalk.
Hearts of Gold's supporters - adults and children alike - will be walking through the park along with some of the shelter moms and kids whom the organization supports. The event will feature a treasure hunt, games, prizes and refreshments at the finish line. Proceeds will fund Hearts of Gold’s children’s programs at the organization’s adopted shelters, which include providing school supplies and clothing, after-school activities, tutoring, meals, summer camp scholarships and day trips to cultural attractions.
“Hearts of Gold created this event so that kids can help kids. By introducing children to the people who benefit from their donations, we make it real for them, and we help create the next generation of philanthropists,” said Deborah Koenigsberger, Founder & Executive Director of Hearts of Gold. “We invite kids both young and old to join us, and help create a better life for the homeless, one step at a time!”
Founded in 1996, Hearts of Gold has helped 10,000+ homeless New York City mothers and children exit the city’s shelters and thrive on their own. The organization supports 900 mothers and children in residence annually in three adopted shelters: Nazareth Housing, Nazareth House Harlem, and Semiperm HDFC. To register for Kids Walk for Kids, donate, or learn more about Hearts of Gold, visit http://www.heartsofgold.org or call (212) 206-1461.
