Passage Home Raises $54,000 to Combat Homelessness and Poverty in Raleigh
“My Story, My Song” Featured Country Music Star Jimmy Wayne.
Raleigh, NC, June 09, 2011 --(PR.com)-- Passage Home, a nonprofit agency fighting poverty and homelessness in Wake County, raised $54,000 at its “My Story, My Song” event held on June 2. All proceeds raised at the event will benefit Passage Home programs, which aim to combat poverty and homelessness in Wake County. Passage Home is currently working to enable and provide community development programs and services which focus on resident development, economic development, education and security to enable a sustainable, economically thriving, self-sufficient MLK South Gateway community.
The event featured country music star Jimmy Wayne, a North Carolina native, personally experienced life as a poor, homeless youth before finding success as an adult with several country hits, including the three-week No. 1, “Do You Believe Me Now.” Wayne will soon be a first-time published author when his novella, Paper Angels, comes out later this year.

“Passage Home is an excellent example of an organization that is truly committed to helping our local community by providing a hand up, not a hand out,” said William Buckner, Bayer CropScience CEO and a member of Passage Home’s board of directors. “We are proud to be a part of all of Passage Home’s programs and are excited to see the impact that this organization is having on our local community.”
