Weston Software Inc. Appoints Edward Samson as CEO
Former Managing Director at Morgan Stanley Smith Barney to head local software firm.
Westport, CT, June 09, 2011 --(PR.com)-- Weston Software Inc. today announced that Edward (“Ed”) Samson has been appointed CEO of the Westport, CT-based firm. Weston Software Inc. manages Macintosh, Linux, UNIX, and hypervisors in the data center, local, remote, or mobile; in virtual environments; and in the private, public, or hybrid cloud – agentlessly. Weston Software Inc. delivers PowerOne, which extends the Windows management console to Macintosh, UNIX, and Linux devices. PowerOne, uniquely in the industry, needs no agents on managed systems, so installation is quick and easy – often taking just a single day. Because PowerOne is agentless, it can manage physical, virtual, and cloud-based platforms and devices, by connecting them to Active Directory. Windows administrators, auditors, and help desk staff will be productive across all platforms with secure delegation, full logging, no specialized training, and no management silos.
“Ed brings to Weston a strong depth and breadth of disciplines ranging from his early work as an attorney to his management and understanding of the financial industry,” said Hank Voight, founder. “Ed is a great asset to the firm and I look forward to working together to boost revenue, increase stockholder value and grow our business.”
Most recently, Ed was Managing Director at Morgan Stanley Smith Barney responsible for the Garden City, New York office. His 20+ years in financial management include tenures at Prudential Securities and Citi Smith Barney. He initially joined Prudential Securities in their General Counsel’s office, and moved into financial management after five successful years in that role. Prior to entering the financial industry, Ed served for four years as an Assistant District Attorney in the Philadelphia District Attorney’s Office.
“Ed Samson has over two decades of strong leadership experience and deep financial insight,” said Peter Longo, President and executive director of lead investor Connecticut Innovations. “Ed’s integrity and proven business success will significantly accelerate Weston Software’s growth.”
Ed holds a Bachelors Degree in Political Science from the University of California, Santa Barbara and a Juris Doctor Degree from Penn State Dickinson Law School. Ed is an avid skier, competitive tennis player and active commercial pilot. He lives with his wife and four children in Weston, Connecticut.
Ed Samson replaces Hank Voight as CEO. Hank will continue as Founder and CTO.
