First Annual "Rosanne’s Rush For Research 5K Run/Walk" to Raise Funds for Triple Negative Breast Cancer Research

Nashua, NH, June 09, 2011 --(PR.com)-- The first annual Rosanne’s Rush For Research 5K Run/Walk will be held at 9 a.m. on Sunday, June 26, 2011 at Nashua High School South in Nashua, N.H. The scenic course will wind through the trails of Mine Falls Park. Money raised will be used to fund research for the treatment and cure of Triple Negative Breast Cancer (TNBC). One hundred percent of the net proceeds raised will be donated to Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.

“This event honors my late wife, Rosanne Sullivan, a young mother of three, who died of TNBC on Oct. 22, 2010,” said event founder Dave Sullivan. “It is heart-wrenching to see a daughter, mother, wife, sister or friend suffer through this illness with barely any hope. This event is designed to restore hope to people who are affected by this terrible disease. Please help us to make this a successful race by joining us on June 26.”

New England Patriots Hall of Fame linebacker and three-time Pro Bowl select Steve Nelson will be in attendance to support the event and will sign autographs. Various signed memorabilia will also be available for auction.

An opportunity drawing will also be held to help raise funds. Opportunity drawing items include Red Sox tickets, an autographed basketball by Boston Celtics great Ray Allen, a signed photo of Red Sox catcher Jarrod Saltalamacchia, restaurant gift cards, and much more.

The race registration fee is $25 for adults and $15 for children under the age of 12. The first 200 registrants in the 5K run/walk will receive race t-shirts. Refreshments will be provided to all registrants.

Individuals and businesses are invited to make a donation, even if they do not participate in the walk. Checks may be made payable to "Rosanne’s Rush For Research" and mailed to the race committee chair:

About Triple Negative Breast Cancer
TNBC is a cancer that lacks “receptors” known to fuel most breast cancers: estrogen, progesterone, or the human epidermal growth factor (HER2). The most successful breast cancer treatments are drugs that directly target these receptors. Early relapse and metastasis (spread to other tissues) is common. Depending on the stage of diagnosis, TNBC can be particularly aggressive, and more likely to recur.

About Rosanne’s Rush For Research
Rosanne Sullivan died in October 2010, after courageously battling triple negative breast cancer (TNBC) for two and a half years. She left behind a husband, three children, a sister, two brothers, and many friends and relatives. Rosanne’s Rush For Research was established to fund research for the treatment and cure of TNBC. TNBC occurs more often in younger women and accounts for approximately 15 percent of all breast cancers. TNBC is difficult to treat because it is unresponsive to some of the most effective treatments typically used for breast cancer. Rosanne’s strength and determination were remarkable and we hope to make a difference in her name to fight this horrible disease. Rosanne’s Rush For Research is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit public charity corporation.
