Sixnewthings.com Attracts 10,000+ Subscribers in Three-month Period
Dallas-based Business-travel Web portal announced today that in only the first three months the site has been free, more than 10,600 people worldwide signed up for full access to the site's proprietary content.
Dallas, TX, March 20, 2007 --(PR.com)-- The publishers of sixnewthings.com, a Dallas-based Business-travel Web portal, announced today that in only the first three months the site has been free, more than 10,600 people worldwide signed up for full access to the site's proprietary content.
The increase represents a more than 800 percent jump in its subscriber base during the three-month period of December 1, 2006 to February 28, 2007.
The publishers also announced that the site's reach had increased 500 percent during the same period, as measured by alexa.com.
"This jump in readership reinforces our belief that business travelers are hungry not only for information about what's new in cities all over North America, but also for an easy-to-scan, easy-to-use tool that lets them access that information quickly," said Jeff Herrington, co-publisher and executive editor.
After a year and a half as a subscription-based site, sixnewthings.com removed its $24 annual subscription charge on December 1, 2006. The site tallied 960 new subscriber in December, another 2,140 subscribers in January and another 7,600 new signups in February alone.
"Our statistics are telling us that several of our subscribers are forwarding our newsletters to anywhere from 30-100 of their associates," said Randall White, co-publisher and operations director. "The velocity with which people are sharing our newsletters, and driving friends and business colleagues to sign up, has actually surprised us to some degree.
"We are also pleased to see our penetration into countries like England, the Netherlands, Taiwan and India was very healthy during this period."
The publishers also announced they have reached an agreement with one of the leading AM radio stations in Portland, Oregon, to appear on-the-air monthly to discuss the six new things spotlighted on the site's home page.
The site expects to sell in March its first major advertising package, to the convention and visitors bureau representing one of California's major metropolitan centers.
Before summer 2007, the site will begin covering major travel destinations in Europe, Asia and perhaps South America, Herrington said.
sixnewthings.com is an advertising-based Web site that each month spotlights six new and intriguing things in 70 destinations across North America. Access to content on all pages is free, although registration is required.
