New Leadership, New Energy for Charity Newsies
Columbus, OH, June 16, 2011 --(PR.com)-- On Monday, June 6, Charity Newsies elected new officers to ramp up their 2011 campaign. The organization has chosen:
· Chuck Rundio IV of Worthington as 2nd Vice President
· Marilyn Wright of Reynoldsburg as Corresponding Secretary
· John Byrne of Columbus as Sergeant at Arms (Bexley)
The board’s elected trustees are:
· Shari Carroll of Columbus (Clintonville)
· Barry Daroe of Blacklick
· Ken Martin of New Albany
Jim Grote, founder of Donatos Pizza, and his colleague Donice Foraker were named honorary Charity Newsies for the company’s continued support of the charity’s annual pizza sale. Donatos first donated ingredients in the pizza sale’s second year. Sixteen years later, the company still provides cheese, pepperoni, mushrooms, sausage and even an occasional pizza oven to make sure the fundraiser is a success. Additionally, the company purchased the fourth special-edition newspaper in the Charity Newsies annual paper sale in 2010, with a bid of $10,000.
Charity Newsies hopes new leadership will bring new energy to the 2011 campaign. Some have served Charity Newsies for more than 30 years, while others have less than five years of service under their belt. But they are all passionate about their involvement and hope to make the 105th drive season the most successful yet.
Charity Newsies is one of Central Ohio’s oldest, most visible and successful fundraising organizations benefiting area schoolchildren. Their most notable fundraisers are the firefighters’ pizza sale in October and the Clothe-A-Child gala and paper sale in December.

Every year for over 100 years, Charity Newsies volunteers take to the streets of Franklin County in December to sell special edition newspapers, of which 100% of the proceeds go to buy brand new clothing for Franklin County school children in need.
