Farrell’s 2nd Annual Ice Cream Eating Challenge Benefiting Two Children’s Charities
Farrell’s will donate 100% of the net proceeds from their 2nd Annual Ice Cream Eating Challenge to CHOC and Make-A-Wish Foundation.
Mission Viejo, CA, June 16, 2011 --(PR.com)-- Here’s your excuse to eat ice cream and feel 100% guilt free. From June 20 through July 10, anyone can come into either of Farrell’s Southern California locations and eat a 3-scoop ice cream sundae as fast as they can to try to qualify for the July 17 Championship event. Farrell’s is donating 100% of the proceeds from their 2nd Annual Splendiferously Superiffic Summer Spectacular Ice Cream Eating Challenge to CHOC Children’s® (Children’s Hospital of Orange County) and the Make-A-Wish Foundation®.
For the $20 entry, contestants will get a 3 scoop sundae to eat as fast as they can, a limited edition ice cream challenge t-shirt and a $5 coupon for a return visit to Farrell’s.
“I can’t think of a more fun, or delicious way to give to a charity,” said Michael Fleming, CEO, Parlour Enterprises, Inc. “CHOC Children’s and Make-A-Wish Foundation are two incredible non-profit organizations. It’s because of our generous customers and their quest for the ultimate in ice cream fun, that we are fortunate enough to be able to give back to these two great organizations that have given so much.”
Named one of the best children’s hospitals by U.S. News & World Report (2011-2010), CHOC is exclusively committed to the health and well being of children through clinical expertise, advocacy, outreach and research that brings advanced treatment to pediatric patients.
For over 25 years the Make-A-Wish Foundation has been granting wishes for children with life-threatening medical conditions. They are one of the largest wish-granting organizations in the nation, granting a child’s wish in the U.S. every 40 minutes.
Guests will try to qualify for the championship event by eating a 3-scoop sundae with chocolate, strawberry and pineapple toppings piled high with whipped cream. The 8 fastest in each category will be invited back to the July 17th Championship event in Mission Viejo. Winners will receive a Farrell’s trophy, a year of free ice cream from Farrell’s and the title of “Farrell’s 2011 Most Best and Fastest Ice Cream Eaters.”

About Farrell’s
Started by Robert “Bob” Farrell in 1963, Farrell’s is a step back in time over 100 years to an old-time ice cream parlour. Farrell’s is known for its delicious ice cream and food concoctions, oversized portions, and rowdy but fun party atmosphere. At it’s height, Farrell’s Ice Cream Parlours had over 130 locations nation wide. After its sale in 1985 to an investment group, the Farrell’s concept was changed and by early 2000 all the Farrell’s nationwide were closed. In 2009, Orange County, CA based, Parlour Enterprises Inc revived the original Farrell’s concept envisioned by Bob Farrell and began moving ahead with the reopening Farrell’s Ice Cream Parlors. Farrell’s currently has two locations open, The Shops at Mission Viejo, 779 Shops blvd. Mission Viejo, Ca. 92691 and in Mountasia Family Fun Center in Santa Clarita, 21516 Golden Triangle Road, Santa Clarita, Ca. 91350.
