Dr. Ralph G. Perrino, Director of Northern Virginia Tutoring Service and Fairfax Partnership for Youth Board Member, joins FPY subcommittees for Bullying Prevention and Volunteer Mentoring Training.
Falls Church, VA, June 18, 2011 --(PR.com)-- Dr. Ralph G. Perrino, Director of Northern Virginia Tutoring Service, LLC of Falls Church, and Board Member of the Fairfax Partnership for Youth (FPY) has embarked on a collaborative effort with Kieran Sharpe, Esq., FPY Board Member and member of the City of Falls Church Board of Education to encourage mentoring in local public schools. As FPY Board members, Perrino and Sharpe recognize the need to mentor students and to assist them in addressing mental health needs.
The focus of FPY is on the development of “strategies for the prevention of unhealthy behaviors.” Toward that end, FPY has focused its efforts on
Volunteer Mentoring Training,
Bullying Prevention, and
Suicide and Depression Prevention.
Dr. Perrino has joined the FPY subcommittees for Bullying Prevention and Volunteer Mentoring Training. His involvement with these issues extends beyond subcommittee activities. He is currently working with Kieran Sharpe to create a regional consortium of Chambers of Commerce and school-business partnerships to address the need to mentor and tutor students in local public schools.
Dr. Perrino and Mr. Sharpe have reached out to several key Northern Virginia Chambers of Commerce – Northern Virginia Black Chamber of Commerce, Vietnamese American Chamber of Commerce, Mid-Atlantic Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, and Asian American Chamber of Commerce. They have also developed a close working relationship with school-business partnership programs in Fairfax, Arlington, and the City of Falls Church.
The goal of these interactions is to convene a summit of all parties during the fall, 2011 to develop strategies to encourage active adult participation in the mentoring and tutoring process for children in need in Northern Virginia Public Schools.
