abi Innovation Hub Receives $5,000 Grant from NH Charitable Foundation
Manchester, NH, June 19, 2011 --(PR.com)-- The abi Innovation Hub (abi Hub) announces that it has received a $5,000 grant from the Manchester Region Community Fund and the Winneg Family Charitable Fund of the New Hampshire Charitable Foundation. The funds will be used to cover the cost of an AmeriCorps VISTA hire for one year of service. The role of the AmeriCorps VISTA, as the Outreach and Development Coordinator, will be to enhance the services and resources provided to the residing abi Hub businesses, specifically in the areas of internships, business development workshops, and outreach.
According to Michele Petersen, vice president of operations at the abi Hub, “The AmeriCorps VISTA program is an excellent resource for the abi Hub because it makes it possible for us to expand our capacity and outreach in a significant way. We see this grant as an investment that will generate a significant ROI and we’re grateful to the NH Charitable Foundation for recognizing the importance of supporting economic development in New Hampshire.”
The abi Innovation Hub is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization that promotes economic development by providing professional office space and supportive assistance to early stage businesses. Since it opened in 1997, resident and graduating businesses have generated more than $200 Million in revenue and more than 600 jobs. The VISTA Outreach and Development Coordinator will begin her year-long assignment in August, and will help contribute to the overall mission.
