Doug Sandahl, owner of the Greer Lodge Resort and Cabins, comments on the condition of Greer after the Wallow Wildfire.

Greer, AZ, June 20, 2011 --(PR.com)-- An Update from Greer Lodge Resort & Cabins regarding the Wallow wildfire in Eastern Arizona.

The Greer Lodge Resort and Cabins has been told the owner will be able to return to Greer soon to assess the situation and inform guests as to the date of reopening. The early indications are that the vast majority of Greer was not burnt during the Wallow Wildfire and most of the fire damage was concentrated in the Southeast corner of the town, where a few homes located in the dense forest were lost.

They remain optimistic that the vast majority of Greer did not sustain fire damage. It is their understanding that none of the 60 cabins nor the 373 Grill Restaurant, located at Greer Lodge Resort and Cabins were burnt in the Wallow Wildfire.

Greer Lodge Resort & Cabins is optimistic they will reopen in July, and here is what guests can expect to see and experience when visiting the Greer Lodge Resort and Cabins after the reopening:

1. Beautiful Green Forests
92.5% of the Forests in the White Mountains were not burned. 
2. Cool Summer Daytime Temperatures.
The average Daytime High Temperature in Greer in the summer is 73 degrees. 
3. Chilly Nights
The average Nighttime low Temperature in Greer during the Summer is 43 degrees.
4. Lots of Water
Greer Lodge Resort and Cabins has 5 private trout lakes stocked full of trout. They sit on the banks of the Little Colorado River. The White Mountains has a lot of water: 50 lakes and 1000 miles of rivers and streams.
5. Daily Drizzle
July and August is our Monsoon Season at Greer Lodge Resort and Cabins, and that means a Daily Drizzle of cool rain each afternoon. 
6. Elk, Dear, Bald Eagles, and more
The Greer area is home to the largest Elk population in the U.S.
7. Fresh Mountain Air.

There are 4 million acres of Forest in the White Mountains, and 3.7 million acres of this forest has not been burnt. Many are not aware that Greer Lodge Resort and Cabins sits in the middle of the largest Ponderosa Pine Forest in the world.
