About Sunday: The Musical
Sunday is a musical comedy based on typical Sunday services at the fictional Glorious New Life Greater Emmanuel Faith Tabernacle Church of The Living God In Christ Up On The Hill.
If there’s one thing every black person can relate to, it’s church. Whether it’s the uplifting songs, the charismatic preacher, the perpetually long services, the incessant gossip or the eventual backstabbing, every black person has a story about the church he or she attends. What we plan to do is take the funniest of those stories, lump them together with some unforgettable characterizations, then blend that with some dynamic new music from today’s premier gospel artists to create a stage presentation that is unlikely to ever be forgotten.
About Cory King
Born & raised in and around the churches of Brooklyn, New York, Cory King entered the entertainment industry at the age of 13 as an onscreen performer in various Nickelodeon-based television shows, national commercials and several Off-Broadway musical productions.
After graduating high school, Cory moved to Los Angeles, CA, where his first audition netted him a recurring role on the ABC television sitcom "Sister, Sister" and later went on to guest star on network television shows such as "The Parenthood," "Steve Harvey Show," "ER," and "Players."
In 2001, Cory was hired as producer/creative writer for Vince McMahon's "World Wrestling Federation" which sparked his interest to write several television pilots. In 2005, Corey followed his longtime dream of being a respected writer and wrote, produced and self-financed his first independent feature film.
Cory is a happily married father of two girls and is an avid boxing fan that counts the Dallas Cowboys & New York Yankees among his favorite sporting teams.
