Fisher & Phillips Attorney Named One of 50 Most Influential Environment, Health and Safety Leaders

Atlanta, GA, June 25, 2011 --(PR.com)-- For the second consecutive year, EHS Today, the magazine for environment, health and safety professionals, has named Edwin G. Foulke Jr. one of the 50 most influential environment, health and safety leaders. Foulke is a partner with Fisher & Phillips LLP, where he co-chairs the firm's Workplace Safety and Catastrophe Management Practice Group. Foulke practices out of the firm’s Atlanta and Washington, D.C. offices.

For more than 30 years, Foulke has worked in the labor and employment area, focusing on occupational safety and health issues, workplace violence risk assessment and prevention, and accident and fatality prevention.

“Ed has done a remarkable job in his focus on workplace safety and standards. His dedication to improving workplace safety has demonstrated to clients that good safety programs not only help keep employees and customers safe, the programs contribute positively to the bottom line,” said Roger Quillen, managing partner and chairman of Fisher & Phillips.

Before joining Fisher & Phillips, one of the nation’s leading law firms in the field of labor and employment law, Foulke was the Assistant Secretary of Labor for Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and chaired the Occupational Safety and Health Review Commission in Washington, D.C., the only individual to have held both of these positions. Foulke also authored "The Workplace Safety and Health Compliance Manual," the essential guide to understanding the OSHA standards. The comprehensive book covers topics such as recordkeeping requirements, inspections, citations and civil penalties and affirmative defenses.

During Foulke's tenure as head of OSHA, workplace injury, illness and fatality rates dropped to their lowest levels in recorded history. In 2008, he was named to the "50 Most Influential EHS Leaders" list by Occupational Hazards magazine. He is a member of the Employee Health Safety and Security Special Expertise Panel for the National Society for Human Resource Management and is "AV" Peer Review Rated by Martindale-Hubbell.

Foulke has a master of law degree from Georgetown University Law Center, a juris doctor degree from Loyola University New Orleans School of Law and bachelor of arts degree (with honors) from North Carolina State University.
