Hampson Aerospace’s India Plant Achieves AS/EN 9100 and ISO 9001:2008
Certification marks a big step in the facility’s push into aerospace production.
Paris, France, June 27, 2011 --(PR.com)-- Hampson Aerospace, the international aerospace group, announced today that its manufacturing facility in Bangalore, India has achieved AS/EN 9100 and ISO 9001:2008 quality management system requirements. The scope of its certification is for the manufacture of precision-machined components. Certification assessments were conducted by TUV India Private, Limited, a premier international Quality Certification and Inspection organization.
“This certification is very important to us, as we ramp up aerospace production at our Indian site,” commented Norman Jordan, CEO of Hampson Aerospace. “This is a major achievement for our Indian operation and the award gives us the opportunity to continue with our planned expansion of aerospace capabilities in India.”
The ISO 9001:2008 certification is an international standard that defines good management practices. It provides a global standard that spells out quality and trust. To meet its requirements, an organization must demonstrate its ability to consistently provide products that meet applicable regulatory requirements and satisfy customer needs.
The AS/EN 9100 certification is exclusively for the aerospace industry and highlights the emphasis being placed on quality norms. The certification is regarded as a prerequisite to qualify for registration as a supplier in the international OASIS online database of qualified suppliers for the International Aerospace Quality Group (IAQG).
AS/EN 9100 places emphasis on areas that have the greatest impact on safety such as management, verification and validation, process control, purchasing, inspection and testing, and control of non-conformances. It enables an organization to demonstrate its commitment to quality, safety and reliability.
The Hampson Aerospace Indian facility is the strategic development of a ‘wholly owned’ 14-acre site in Bangalore. Capacity at the campus-style site is being developed and configured to suit particular customer requirements and program needs for processes such as precision machining, fabrication of detail parts and assembly of sub-structures.
Hampson Aerospace is the world leader in the design and manufacture of close-tolerance tooling and assembly systems, as well as holding leading positions for composite and metallic components and aero structures. The Group's end-to-end solution for its customers from engineering and project management through manufacturing and logistics has lead to numerous customer awards. With global operations, it serves the commercial and military aerospace markets from 12 facilities in the US, UK, and India.
Parent company: Hampson Industries PLC is listed on the main market of the London Stock Exchange (Symbol: HAMP). For more information, visit: www.hampsongroup.com.
Hampson Aerospace will be at the 49th Paris Air Show in Le Bourget exhibition center, June 20 to 26, 2011. The company will be located in Hall 2b, Stand F155.
