Pintail Youth Ranch Announces New Participants Accepted to TORCH™ Program
Richardson, TX, March 21, 2007 --(PR.com)-- The Pintail Youth Ranch (PYR), a Texas based 501(c)(3) dedicated to improving the quality of life for select underprivileged inner-city youths, has accepted four new full-time participants into its innovative TORCH™ program. Xavier – 8th grade Liberty Junior High, Nathaniel – 9th grade North Garland High School, Isaiah – 9th grade Richardson High School, and Tristan – 7th grade Liberty Junior High have all applied and were officially accepted on March 17, 2007.

As members of the TORCH™ program, the boys will receive regular mentoring and participate in Team building, Outdoor Recreation, Conservation, and Helping activities.

“We are excited to have the opportunity to work with these young men. Each comes from a single-parent home and have limited if any positive male role models in their lives,” says Geoff Wright, Executive Director of PYR. “Through regularly scheduled activities and mentoring sessions, we will introduce these young men to the great outdoors and provide them with a unique learning opportunity.”

Over the last 20 years, the influence of positive male role models has rapidly disappeared from the daily lives of our children. More than ever, video games and MP3 players are the focus of at-risk children's recreation and so many  never get to experience the great outdoors and the wonderful lessons it can teach.

“I am so thankful Xavier has been accepted to this program,” says Tanya, mother of one of the participants. “These boys need positive male role models and I cannot think of a better way to introduce them to the outdoors and all its wonder than through the Pintail Youth Ranch.”

The ranchers’ first outing will be centered around a high-ropes team building course in April. Future outings will include a fishing excursion, Texas Parks and Wildlife Hunter Safety classes, skeet shooting and a Youth Weekend waterfowl hunt and campout. In between, PYR staff will conduct regularly scheduled mentoring sessions and monitor each rancher’s progress in school.
