San Diego, CA, June 30, 2011 --(PR.com)-- Senomyx, Inc. (NASDAQ: SNMX), a leading company focused on using proprietary taste receptor technologies to discover and develop novel flavor ingredients for the food, beverage, and ingredient supply industries, announced today its continued inclusion in the Russell 3000 Index following Russell Investments' annual reconstitution of its comprehensive set of U.S. and global equity indexes on June 24, 2010. Senomyx is also included in the Russell 2000 Index, a subset of the Russell 3000 composed of small-cap stocks.
"Senomyx is pleased that we will continue to be listed in the Russell 2000 and 3000 Indexes, which are among the most prestigious stock market indexes," stated Kent Snyder, Chief Executive Officer of the Company. “We believe our Russell membership reflects the numerous advances achieved by Senomyx during the past year. These include the establishment of two new collaborations and the extension of existing agreements, regulatory approval for two Bitter Blockers, and the issuance of more than 50 new patents covering Senomyx’s technologies and compositions, as well as the expansion of commercialization efforts by three of our partners.”
Annual reconstitution of Russell’s U.S. indexes captures the 4,000 largest U.S. stocks as of the end of May, ranking them by total market capitalization. Membership in the Russell 3000, which remains in place for one year, means automatic inclusion in either the large-cap Russell 1000 Index or small-cap Russell 2000 Index, as well as the appropriate growth and value style indexes. Russell determines membership for its equity indexes primarily by objective, market-capitalization rankings and style attributes.
The Russell 3000 also serves as the U.S. component to the Russell Global Index. Russell indexes are widely used by investment managers and institutional investors for index funds and as benchmarks for both passive and active investment strategies.
