Qualifying to Win a Year of Free Ice Cream from Farrell’s Ice Cream Parlours Charity Ice Cream Eating Challenge Continues Through 4th of July Weekend.
Mission Viejo, CA, July 02, 2011 --(PR.com)-- On the East Coast this 4th of July weekend Nathan’s Famous will be holding their annual International Hot Dog Eating Contest championship event, but here in Southern California qualifying for Farrell’s Ice Cream Parlors® First Ever 2nd Annual Splendiferously Superiffic Summer Spectacular Ice Cream Eating Challenge continues. Unlike the hot dog contest, Farrell’s event is open to everyone and has 5 categories so every age range from the family can participate. Qualifying is going on now through July10 at Farrell’s in Mission Viejo and in Santa Clarita.
100% of the proceeds from the $20 qualifying fee benefits CHOC Children’s® (Childrens Hospital of Orange County) and the Make-A-Wish Foundation®. In addition to the qualifying ice cream, participants receive a limited edition Farrell’s event t-shirt and $5 towards their next Farrell’s visit.
“We wanted to create a super fun event that anyone could participate in, no matter what age.” says Michael Fleming, CEO, Parlour Enterprises Inc. “So far we’ve had a great response and I can’t wait for the Championship event.”
Categories for this year’s event consist of Individual Men’s Pig’s Trough Challenge (ages 16+), Individual Women’s Pig’s Trough Challenge (ages 16+), Kid’s One Person Jr. Pig’s Trough Challenge (ages 9-15), The Big and Small Pig’s Trough Challenge (2-persons, ages 16+ and 9 and under) and the 4-person Zoo Challenge. The 8 fastest qualifiers in each category will be invited to the Championship event hosted at Farrell’s Mission Viejo on July 17, National Ice Cream Day. There, contestants will compete to win a year of free Farrell’s ice cream and be named “America’s 2011 Fastest Ice Cream Eaters… As far as Farrell’s can tell.”
