Organicmailbox.com Sets Up Fundraiser to Help Reforest Area Affected by Wallow Fire
Organicmailbox.com aims to plant 1,000,000 trees through a partnership with National Forest Foundation. 10 trees will be planted with every subscription sold when customers use promo code "wallow."
Phoenix, AZ, July 03, 2011 --(PR.com)-- Organicmailbox.com announces a new partnership with the National Forest Foundation (NFF) to create a fund that will plant 10 trees from every subscription sold to help reforest areas of the Apache-Sitgreaves National Forest affected by the Wallow Fire. *
Founded by Congress in 1991, the National Forest Foundation works with the U.S. Forest Service to restore and enhance our National Forests and Grasslands. As the nonprofit partner of the U.S. Forest Service, they engage America in community-based and national programs that promote the health and public enjoyment of the National Forest System.
In anticipation of the coming partnership co-founder Michael Flanagan says, “With this partnership we hope to give nature a head start in restoring the beauty to a once pristine area.” In addition to enhancing the scenic value of our National Forests, trees provide many important benefits, adds Greg Peters of the National Forest Foundation. “Reforestation of our National Forests helps provide clean water and clean air to millions of Americans, while sequestering carbon, improving wildlife habitat, providing natural resources, and enhancing recreational opportunities for the millions who visit our National Forests every year,” Peters says.
Organicmailbox.com aims to plant 1,000,000 trees in the region in partnership with the NFF. To participate, use promo code “wallow” when signing up for the service. Organic Mailbox is a green service that stops the circulation of unsolicited junk mail through the U.S. Postal Service. One hundred million trees are destroyed each year to produce the more than 6.5 million tons of junk mail that end up in our country’s landfills. “This used to be a ‘nice to have service,’ but now it has become a ‘need to have service’ in order to help mitigate the amount of wasted created,” says Flanagan.
*.The partnership will devote funds raised toward replanting trees on the site of the Wallow Fire – a process estimated to begin in 2013. Should the Forest Service not be ready to begin planting at that time, funds will be directed to another wildfire site in the state of Arizona.
