Howell Custom Building Group and Benjamin Nutter Architects, LLC Welcome Author Tom Hubka to Speak at ifarm, LLC

Lawrence, MD, July 06, 2011 --(PR.com)-- Howell Custom Building Group , the north shore’s premium quality home builder and, Benjamin Nutter Architects LLC, a prominent regional design firm, are pleased to announce an open farm day at ifarm, LLC, in Boxford on Sunday, July 10, 2011. The featured speaker will be Tom Hubka.

While so many rural farmland parcels are being sold and re-developed for housing and other commercial purposes, Boxford’s ifarm, LLC is a 19th century classic New England farmhouse, carriage house, barn and 17-acre property being restored in the hopes of creating a working 19th century farmstead.

To celebrate the restoration of this classic New England agricultural icon, the design and building team, which also includes Preservation Timber Framing, Inc., of Berwick, Maine, is welcoming the public to view the restoration work that has been done and learn about the architectural significance of, and history behind, the buildings.

Tom Hubka, author of “Big House, Little House, Back House, Barn: The Connected Farm Buildings of New England” will be the featured speaker, and tours of ifarm’s barn, carriage house, and farmhouse will be given throughout the day.

“The restoration of this site to a working farm combines many personal and professional interests. These include historic preservation, land conservation, family farming and the restoration of New England farm structures. It has been a delight to collaborate with ifarm owner Chris Barensfeld and the team she has assembled to save the farm,” says Ben Nutter, principal at Benjamin Nutter Architects, LLC.

“As Boxford residents, we are happy that this parcel has been saved from re-development, and could not be more pleased to be part of its restoration,” said Stephen Howell, founder of Howell Custom Building Group. The firm was chosen by the property’s owner for its long-standing reputation as a quality builder and unique expertise in timber frame construction.

The event will take place rain or shine and is free, but voluntary contributions to either the Boxford or Topsfield Historical Society will be graciously accepted. To attend, please contact Susan Howell at Howell Custom Building Group at (978)989-9440 or visit their website to register.
