The Forensics Group Receives Certification as a Women-Owned Small Business Enterprise
Petaluma, CA, July 07, 2011 --(PR.com)-- The Forensics Group, a leading computer forensics company, announced today that it has received national certification as a Women-Owned Small Business (WOSB) enterprise.
The certification for women-owned businesses opens the door for additional government contracts for The Forensics Group. Federal and state contracting officers are authorized to specifically limit, or set aside, certain requirements for competition solely among women-owned small businesses.
The national standard for WOSB certification is made through the U.S. Small Business Administration. As a result of the new certification, The Forensics Group is now listed on the Central Contractor Registration, the primary vendor database for the U.S. Federal Government.
"Receiving certification as one of the women-owned small businesses is an important step for The Forensics Group as we continue to grow our business,” said Kris Haworth, founder and president of the company. “Historically, the computer forensics industry has been male dominated. Achieving this certification is an important message that women can excel at the highest levels of the technology industry.”
Haworth said that the company’s certification can also serve as a role model for younger women to enter traditionally male dominated fields.
"As a female attorney and a technology specialist, I know how important it is for young women to be involved in math, science, engineering, technology and the law,” she said. “Our WOSB certification will help us promote that message, and I’m thrilled to join the women-owned small business community.”
By including women-owned businesses among their partners, corporations and government agencies demonstrate their commitment to fostering diversity. Many of the Fortune 500 companies have women's business development programs, including 80 of the top 100.
Since opening its headquarters last year in Petaluma, California, The Forensics Group has been growing rapidly. The company now has offices in New York City, Chicago, Dallas and Silicon Valley to meet client demand in different regions of the country.
