EMW, Inc. to Host Charity Poker Tournament for Operation Smile
EMW, Inc. will be hosting a charity poker tournament this August to raise money for Operation Smile.
San Francisco, CA, July 07, 2011 --(PR.com)-- Members of EMW, Inc. will be participating in a charity poker tournament to raise money for Operation Smile. EMW, Inc. has participated in several philanthropic events over the past few years and this is the second poker night the company has been involved with for Operation Smile.
EMW, Inc. is a sales and marketing firm based out of San Francisco, CA. The company is hired by national corporations to represent their brand name to acquire and retain accounts. EMW has represented Fortune 500 companies in several industries from business suppliers, energy, and currently represents one of the largest telecommunications providers in the nation. EMW became involved with Operation Smile in 2010.
Operation Smile is a non-profit organization established in 1982 in West Virginia by two surgeons, Dr. William Magee Jr., a plastic surgeon, and his wife, Kathleen, a nurse and clinical social worker. Since inception, more than 135,000 children with cleft lips, cleft palates and other facial deformities have been given this life-changing surgery.
Operation Smile now has a presence in over 50 countries. The free surgeries and medical missions are made possible by the thousands of volunteers and donors, throughout the world, who contribute time, talent and resources to the cause.
Each procedure takes an average of 45 minutes, and in some cases can give a boy or girl with a facial deformity the ability to speak for the first time in their life. Operation Smile takes pride in the fact that every child we heal creates a ripple effect on the child's family, community and country. After surgery, Operation Smile expects that the child can become a more productive member of society and enrich their community.
EMW plans to hold their charity poker tournament in August of this year. The event will involve poker, blackjack, prizes and raffles. All profits will go directly to Operation Smile. EMW’s goal is to raise $1000 for the cause by the end of the year. They have currently reached over $400 and expect to come close to the goal with this summer’s event.
“It is exciting to see the company come together for the cause. We have done several volunteer events over the last few months and Operation Smile is an exciting mission to be volunteering for. I am proud to be involved with a company that values giving back to the community,” explains a member of the company.
EMW, Inc. has also volunteered with Goodwill and the Del Rosario Foundation. The company plans on continuing its philanthropic efforts and giving its employees the opportunity to volunteer on a consistent basis.
